Just the other day, while Luke was searching for something to eat in my refrigerator (he had no such luck), he asked me when we were going to go on a trip. I racked my brain-- Was I missing something? Had we discussed a trip and I forgot about it? Was this a surprise on his part? I looked over my should at him with a very confused expression. Luke quite bluntly shrugged his shoulders and said "I just feel like going on a trip." Shucks. Nothing planned.
Luke and I love us some traveling. Even if it's to Little Rock for the weekend I get all excited and prepare myself all week long. We've been on some fabulous trips in the three years we've been together and if you know me, I'm itching (to say the least) for another one! We often times spend HOURS planning trips we'd dream of going on one day... If only money grew on trees, right?!
I stumbled upon this little article in Real Simple that I had kept about the cost comparison of playing tourist stateside for two adults to sight see, enjoy dinner at a renowned restaurant, and stay overnight near all the action.
Seattle: $32 Space Needle, $104 Tilth Restaurant, $279 Marriott Waterfront.
New York: $37 Empire State Building, $137 Union Square Cafe, $399 Marriott Marquis.
Washington D.C.: FREE the Capitol Building, $112 Central Michel Richarl for dinner, $479 Marriott at Metro Center (geeez!)
Chicago: $12 Ferris Wheel, $118 Toplobampo for dinner, $409 Marriott Downtown Magnificent Mile.
Memphis: $56 Graceland, $61 Rendezvous, $169 Marriott Downtown.
(I'd opt for Memphis! Driving distance, cheapest, and still in the south!)
