New Karim Rashid Apartment Interiors | NATURAL INTERIOR DESIGN 2010

Karim Rashid is one of the most creative and diverse designers of our generation. His loud style has called him an audience from every corner of the globe. Karim is an architect, interior designer, writer and product designer who has dynamically touched every facet of design from eye wear and furniture to children toys- and still manages to hold a few hobbies. Talk about stamina!

Today we’re taking an intimate tour into his arguably ego-centric home, where he and his wife revel in all things designed by Karim. He says it only breeds more creativity for future designs and likes to test out his products for functionality to see what and how things need improvement. Well HD is all for his eccentric ways because he has definitely given us something to talk about…

House tour: A Casual Seaside Estate

I received such a positive response (online and off) to this photo of an art studio designed by Robin Bell, that I thought I'd share the rest of the house. (Trust me, you'll only get more envious from here on out). That sweet studio resides in a rambling 1880s seaside estate, that was once owned by Gloria Vanderbilt. Everyone's favorite silver fox, Anderson Cooper, grew up here.

The house is shingles style, with arts and crafts touches throughout. Bell downplayed the grandness of the house by stripping it of the floor-to-ceiling decorating preferred by Vanderbilt and giving it a more laid back cottage-y look. I love how Bell broke out of the typical seaside palette of blues and whites, in favor of creamy neutrals accented with hot pinks, candy purples and rich marigold yellows.
