Twister is a fitting name for this wooden bench designed by Yuriko Takahashi. Twister is constructed of laminated birch veneer and comes in the natural color pictured here or in black. An interesting aspect of the bench is how it "flows" in a room.

I am reminded of a roller coaster track and how it shapes contorts as it focuses the cars along the track in a pre-specified direction. An installation of Twister appears in the headquarters of the New York Times building. Measurements: 41 cm x 41 cm per section.

Many woodworkers know the challenge in constructing chairs by hand and the difficulty in maintaining consistency in look and quality. In today's mass production market, "made by hand" is often a rare thing indeed.
